I am trying to upgrade my dinosaur of a computer with a new graphics card but don't know one compatible. I would be looking for a graphics card from around 512MB to 1GB. I have a PCI-E slot at V1.1.

Cheap and Cheerful if you could find One

Computer Specs

Processor: AMD Athalon 64 (tm) Processor 3500+ @ 2.2Ghz
PSU: 300W LITEON
Motherboard: Asus A8M2N-LA HP Nodus3-GL8E
RAM: 2GB

If you could help me I would be extremely grateful.

HD4350 is the way to go for your CPU and your PSU,which pretty much is a piece of crap.
That build I made is pretty good and consider buying it when you save enough money.

Even if you manage a new GPU, that RAM is going to bottleneck the hell out of you. I'd recommend a new build, because you're gonna need new RAM, a new motherboard, a new graphics card(s), a new processor and a larger power supply to make the upgrade worthwhile.

I would be looking to spend around 500 quid on the new build again budget. but i just need a graphics card to keep me going for the minute. This build could be 2-3 months away.

If you're planning on spending that much to play GTA 4, I.. don't even know what to say. Considering GTA 5 is supposed to get a PC port soon. If I were you, I'd save as long as possible and just build a whole new system, with modern graphics cards, a processor, RAM, all that. DDR4 is practically out, 8-core's and the GTX 880 series are around the corner and so are the X99 mobo's. Just, save for 4-5 months and build a monster that will last you for years, not something that can't even compete with 2013 games.

At the end of it all, it's up to you. But you're really gonna regret it when you realize what could've been.

I'm sorry now guys but I am not much of a PC gamer and just want to run GTA 4 I dont really care about GTA 5. But at the moment I am looking for a graphics card for my current computer. I dont have the money at the moment to be able to build a new computer. I couldnt care less about bottlenecking on my curent once I can play GTA 4. It's for my son you see I am just trying to buy him a new graphics card for the moment
