Hi All,

I am upgrading my A4 5300 3.4 ghz for an A10 5800k 3.8ghz.

I have researched the bios and it appears to be the same version but I am concerned about the ghz needed. Does this need to be changed or will the mobo run at the desired rate.

The mobo is a F2A55.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi OP,

BIOS version is not going to play a vital role in processor speed. Your board is F2A55. It completely supports A10 5800k and hence there will be a significant increase in the "ghz". No doubts in it. It's a worth upgrade.

Thanks, I am not planning on Overclocking as I have a good gpu, I am going to use the stock cooler. Does the CPU come with paste applied?

Again thanks, is there a paste you would use in particular? And what should I use to remove the pre-applied?

Just use the thermal pad that comes on the stock heatsink/fan. These guys just want you to waste your money. If you plan on getting an aftermarket cooler then buy some third party thermal interface material. Even then the aftermarket coolers come with their own TIM which is fine.

I am not saying that a better thermal paste will improve significantly the cooling performance. Paste is not so much expensive and the few degrees less maybe are worth it. If you want a cool quiet computer you should really buy a better cooler. I am using CM 212 EVO and it does a great job but it won't fit in any computer case as its height is about 160 mm.
