Well, I am not sure whether it's router's fault, the lan card's fault, windows's fault, or BIOS/UEFI's fault, or whatever.... but someone's fault is for sure. And it's not mine :D

As the title suggests, my router keeps disconnecting on my new shiny computer. Bought a new computer, put Windows 8.1 and Linux in dual-booting on it, and now my Huawei (not wireless) router keeps disconnecting every minute or 2 for about 30-40 seconds, after which it reconnects back for another 1-2 minutes, then disconnects back for 30-40 seconds. And so on and so forth. If I was to guess I would say it's either a damn setting in my BIOS/UEFI (yep, I have a dual-booting system), or something wrong with, I don't know, the lan card? Or whatever. I really don't know

The thing is that it behaves the same under Linux, too. So, it can't be Windows. Probably.... actually, I'll stop guessing and let you guys come up with a solution for this. If you have it and if you want to share it obviously :)

My PC is this:

MB - Gigabyte H97M-D3H
CPU - Intel i3-4360 (3,7 GHz)
HDD - Seagate Desktop Hybrid SSHD 1TB 7200RPM 64 MB SATA-III
Video Card - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 2GB DDR5 192Bit Windforce2X
RAM Memory - Kingmax 2x4GB DDR3, 1600 MHz, CL9
And my router is Huawei HG655b

Now, I won't lie to you. The router behaved like this in the past and while connected to my old computer, but it never did it so often and for so long. Practically, since I bought this new computer 1 month ago (only yesterday I actually set it up and started using it) the router behaved like this every day. Except for yesterday when it ran perfectly from morning till late night when I shut down the computer and went to sleep. But this morning it started doing this again and I can't take it anymore. I need to do something about it, but I don't know what. A week ago I called one of my ISP's technicians but he couldn't find anything wrong with anything related to my internet connection. So, naturally I assumed it was something specific to my new computer. But what??

Also, if it matters, this router is connected to another one (I live in a house, a pretty big one, and it has a central router that directs internet throught the entire 2-floors house). The thing however is that nobody in the entire house has these problems, but me. Which again, makes me think it's THIS particular router that is in my room, or the new computer.

Oh well, I'm tired of guessing. Can I please get an idea of what it could be wrong? Anything? Something else that needs mentioned is that I bought the computer a month ago but only managed to make it run yesterday, after wasting over 60 hours trying to make it dual-boot Windows8 and Linux. Why am I telling you this? Because, given its MB's type (BIOS and UEFI bootable) I don't dismiss the possibility of a stupid setting inside of the BIOS/UEFI that keeps my router from behaving normally. After all, I did waste 60 hours of trying to put Linux on this computer just because of the same thing, so...

Anyways, right now the BIOS/UEFI MB runs with its default settings loaded, and here's the only link I found in google that shows how my BIOS looks like (just so you can get an idea):

Again, if any of you handsome (you are handsome, right?) guys and gals know what could be wrong, please let me know. Also, right now the router looks ok, and it looked ok for the last 4-5 minutes (which is a record for today lol). But I swear it won't stay like this forever :)

Anyway, let me know!

John
