Please help.
I have Acer Aspire 3100 BL51 with Win XP Home edition.
It re boots all the time, I reach the XP logo, then BSOD blue screen and instantly back to re booting. I am unable to see error code.
I can get into BIOS and swap re booting order, no problem.
But what ever I do it re boots again.
In Bios I can see HD being recognized but not the DVDROM ! Ran the HD externally on my desk top and it is picked up.
The DVD Writer was changed recently with a new one as previous had failed to read, write, burn.
RAM is fine, I have 2, one is 1GB and the other 512, removing one of them and running the lap top no change.
Pls adv can it be the CMOS battery ?I can see this but am not sure if I can put a new one because the way it is taped/clipped. Thought better to ask for some adv b4 I can remove it.
Pls see the enclosed SS.
Thx for any tips you can give,Cheers

Normally, a computer will at least show the BIOS screen even with a dead battery but if you want to change it, just pull up the spring tab slightly while holding the laptop in a vertical position and it should just fall out. Replace with same battery, printed side usually faces you but take note of the polarity, the + mark, on the battery and battery socket nonetheless.

Sorry late update Delroy, Internet offline bcos of thunder and lightening.
Funnily this battery which was stuck with an adhesive of some sort on both positive and negative poles was a pain to remove, I had to use fine/thin screwdriver and tweezers to get it off. The blue O RING around the battery is the cover of the battery which is Sanyo ML 1220 3 V. I had come so far so I peeled it off and will replace with a similar one soon. But tell me how do we get it to 'stick' to the plus/minus strips (pls see the SS, one is lying flat and other upright... sry about the reso of the image). Cheers
