Will a intel core i7 4790 cpu be compatible with my sony vaio e series model pcg-71211w

When it comes to replacing hardware on sony systems (I know I used to work at a call center covering them) its a crap shoot. One of the newer models, I call it newer but it was back in 2000, Crashed b4 cmos checksum because he replaced the dimms with 2x512 chips up from 1x256. The chips worked in his sons comp but not his sony.
Like he said you cant replace the hardware but sony wants you to stay within your own specific walls on most of their hardware.
