I'm having a hard time swapping out my crashed Glyph drive. I recovered my data off the Seagate 250 GB drive inside my Glyph and decided to just upgrade it to a 1TB Seagate. My computer wont let me initialize or format the new drive. It is also only showing less than 4 GB on the drive when I try this process and gives an I/O device error. Is the new drive faulty or is there something I need to do first? Downloaded the SeaTools program and it shows the drive and tells me the model number but is not showing a firmware version. Tried updating firmware and still not working. Any suggestions???

I was wondering if I should try this, I wish I had another computer that I didn't mind messing up. All I have is my laptops. Will it go directly to BIOS if I only have the new drive connected?

I brought the drive to work and let the IT guy give it a shot, he tried plugging it in direct and couldn't get it, pretty sure the drive is just toast, lame. I also emailed Glyph several times and they tell me I should be able to just swap it out and plug in USB or firewire and be able to initialize/format no problem. So it sounds like a lot of wasted time so far, sweet!
