Hi, I have an emachines w3629 computer and I bought a new power supply, its a TR2 430 watt by thermaltake. My mother board has a 24 pin slot and 4 pin slot. I have a Pentium 4 631. Originally the old psu had 20 pins in the 24 pin slot and 4 pins in the four pin slot. I was just wondering if I could plug all 24 pins on my new psu into the 24 pins because my new psu has detachable 4 pins next to the 20 pins, (If you have a 20+4 pin mobo or 24 pin), and the detachable 4 pin is great but its sort of ugly hanging off to the side and its kind of in the way. So once again, what would happen if I plugged 24 pins into a mobo that has a 24 pin slot but the cpu needs 20+4 pins, would it over charge or something like that? Thanks in advance?

If the motherboard has a 24 pin slot you should use all 24 pins, i'm not sure why it was originally built using a PSU that didn't have the appropriate connectors but thats on eMachines.

Thanks, I just hope it doesn't explode or something. Lol.
