How to install hdd?

just built a new computer, everything fine, but windows isnt showing my new 4tb hdd. item code WD40003FZEX. I connected it the same way i connected my evo 840 ssd.

Please can someone advise?

Right click on my computer > manage > disk management.

Do you see it there? The drive needs to be formatted before it's good to go.

GPT or MBR are my formatting options. Im on windows 8.1 and simply want to use it for storage of large video files, music and CAD files etc. Im booting windows from my ssd. Which formatting should i choose?

"The MBR record (by design) cannot reference more than 2TiB of drive space."

You have to use GPT if you're going to make one 4tb partition.

Thank you. I tried this and now it just shows as unallocated. STill unable to see drive. Sorry Im completely fresh at this.

Okay so i created a new volume. Now which should I choose, NTFS or exfat?

Now right click on the unallocated > new partition/new simple volume. Use NTFS. Allocation unit size default.
