Is my grapics card dead

i built a PC yesterday and i plunged in my 270x and it wont detect it is it dead ?
or am i just doing it wrong the fans turn on and i got the drivers from amd site

Make sure your 6-pin connecter is plugged in to your graphics card ( it happens a lot) & that your card is fully seated in the Motherboard.

you have to install the motherboard chipset drivers before the pci bus will work right.

check to see if the onboard video still on. if it is go into the bios set the video to pci/peg first.
