hey i want to OC my system. to start OC from Bios or the software that came with the Mobo?
does is make a deff? i heard Software Ocing wastes more Power so it better to use Bios.
bios giving you same or better performance with less voltage to the cpu etc... i dont know i will like to know the pros and cons. I also think i wanna OC my RAM but i dont know if its worth it...
the ram is that OC model that's at 1866 i was thinking about pushing it to 2000 Mhz.

CPU OCing to 4.7-5.x GHz. i want to get at least 5 if you think my set up can support 5 or more.
RAM OCing to 2000Mhz from 1866 if its worth it.

You can check this video out
The Mobo is different but it explains what you need to do.
You can use Real temp for monitoring temps and you can use Intel Burn Test for short stress tests to see if the overclock is stable and you can use OCCT (CPU LINPACK) after you're done overcloking, run it for atleast two hours if it doesnt crash you're good to go.
Also make sure you're temps do go any higher than 85C.
Good luck!

How would I go on about doing this? I never OCed b4 so I have no clue what to do.. Do I just put the voltage up little by little? Or I think I saw a CPU clock knob that I think can be used to set the speed.

Don't go any higher? So far I was running at stock. 4402.xx ghz ;) ( lucky CPU got + 2 ghz at stock... ;) J/P )
So far I did notice I been running CPU at 4.4 ghz for almost 2-3 days now. And the temps are getting 47-50 c is that normal at full stock load? I'm not sure a out idle. I wanna say idel is sometimes 25C or up to 30C. I will du now check to make sure. Can I just use the system info app on mo I to keep up with temps or should I DL the 3rd party software to keep track of temps. I trust the system info on the PC but I guess gigabyte might lie to me to make me feel special lol

The safe spot if you're using the system alot is 1.3v and temps not higher than 85C (90C is not that nice but it wont kill your chip)
I get about 70C at 4.7ghz with voltage of 1.256V and I was not able to get 5ghz even at 1.31v. (My cooler is Noctua Nh D14)
Those temps are very nice if the ambient is 25 or 30C.
I use RealTemp for monitoring temps and I have it open at all times.
Also rendering videos at 1440p in sony vegas find an unstable overclock in about 5-15minutes. (Even if you pass intel burn test rendering videos might still crash you)

Okay cool. I will give OC a shot via bios and see what I can get out of it when I get the day off Sunday . I tryed OC via software 5 ghz CPU and 2000 MHz ram. But I get the blue screen memory dump when I use a program to wun all cores. I guess it could be the ram causing the blue screen. I will have to try to OC just the CPU n c what happens. Then the memory for it to stay stable. I have a feeling it's the ram because its a 1866 OC ram and I should keep it there instead of going 2000mhz.

Can any 1 give me a link to strain test CPU n ram? Or what can I do to find out what part is unstable and causing the dump. I did try prime95 or CPUz on 1 of my old pcs but where ever I got it from gave me viruses n malware. Is there an official site?

Quick question. I found these site to test the pc. All 3 of these links trust worthy? I won't have to worry about viruses , malware , unwanted programs?

http://www.memtest86.com/

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?197835-IntelBurnTest-The-new-stress-testing-program

What order should I run the tests? Or it doesn't mater? I was thinking memory test 1st then intel burn then save prime95 for the last step... Would that order be good or is there a special way I need to run them?

Memtest is for the RAM, Prime95 is not that great on haswell cpu ( If you want to stress test with Prime95 get an older version of it or just use OCCT linpack ) and the intelburntest is a good tool to stress test but what I found is that sometimes you pass intel burn test but you crash at rendering or gaming after an hour or two so if you pass it on the "standart" level it does not mean your system is fully stable.
