Yes. That is a software based solution. It has little to do with actual response and more to do with correcting smearing and blurring on the screen. Smart response is Phillips version of pixel overdrive as explained here:
The ASUS is a better display but they are both excellent monitors. And that other monitor model number actually comes back as a Phillips, not an LG. If you can't locate an ASUS you probably won't be unhappy with alternative.
Yes. Im resorting to this displays. All of them are 2ms gtg. I just dont know what spec to look out for. Philips 23.6 inch MODA 248C3LHSB vs Hannspree HF257HP vs Viewsonic 27 inch VX2703mh vs Aoc E2357FH vs Aoc E2350SH
Yeah, I'm sorry but everything you're listing are models that are only available across the pond from where I am. They have different voltage requirements and model numbers so I'm not going to be familiar with them. I can't even really look at reviews that list specs because it's all in different languages. I am sorry.
Grey to grey response times are generally about triple the actual response times, which WON'T say gtg or grey to grey. So if one monitor says 5ms response time and another says 5ms gtg response time, then it's actually about 15ms response time and not as fast as the other unit.
