Hello,

A friend asked me to put together an AMD and an Intel build for gaming purpose.. This is what I came up with. It has been a while since I last looked into hardware. Just to double check, do the components fit? Any known issues, such as bottlenecks?

Also, in my country, the intel build I put together is about $180 more expensive. Which one would you recommend, the Intel or AMD build?

    Intel Core i7 4770K BOX (LGA 1150, 3.50GHz, Unlocked)
ASUS H87 PRO (LGA 1150, Intel H87, ATX)
    ASUS GTX-780 DirectCU II OC (GK110, 3GB)
    2 x Crucial MX100 (256GB, 2.5")
    Corsair Vengeance (2x, 8GB, DDR3-1600, DIMM)

    AMD FX-8350 (AM3+, 4GHz, Unlocked)
    AsRock 990FX Extreme3 (AM3+, AMD 990FX, ATX)
    ASUS GTX-780 DirectCU II OC (GK110, 3GB)
    2 x Crucial MX100 (256GB, 2.5")
    Corsair Vengeance (2x, 8GB, DDR3-1600, DIMM)

UPDATE:

After some help, this would be the final build: (went with Intel)

    Intel Core i5 4690K (LGA 1150, 3.50GHz, Unlocked)
    AsRock Z87 Extreme4, LGA1150, ATX, CFX/SLI (LGA 1150, Intel Z87, ATX)
    ASUS GTX-780 DirectCU II OC (GK110, 3GB)
    2 x Crucial MX100 (256GB, 2.5")
    Corsair XMS3 (2x, 8GB, DDR3-1600, DIMM)

Intel build, but get a Z motherboard, not h, so u can overclock ur k cpu
Also u can get i7 4790k for the same price but its newer with better performance

Also get low profile ram so u can buy a cpu cooler. With those ram sticks the cpu cooler wouldnt let u have ram.in the 1 slot

Yes it is. Ram sticks with high heatsink can have clearence problems with cpu cooler.
Hm dont know, try to find some corsair lp or go with hyperx low profile 1600mhz

Awesome, thank you very much.

I have one last question. I'm looking at the intel Z motherboards here (click away the filter popup window). The budget should not be around 100 - 120. Any recommendations? Or else I'll go for the cheapest.

Get an i5-4690k. The 4770Ks are meant for video editing and other CPU intensive tasks because the extra threads created by hyperthreading go to waste in games

Asrock z87 extreme 4 or 6 are good.
I didnt said anything about i7 cause also for only 120 dollars more i think its worth, more future proof with better performance in some games and apps

It is not worth it at all. The 4770k is no more "future proof" than the 4690K. Why are you trying to future proof with an outdated processor?

Thats why i said to op get 4790k
Can u read the thread? And 4770k its not outdated

Oh I didn't see that. But either way the i7 is not worth it over the i5. Unless OP is doing video/photo editing, the i7 will have zero advantage over the i5 in games and will end up being a waste of money

And also the 4770K is technically outdated because the 4790K was meant to take it's place. It's not a whole generation like the 3770k-4770k, but the 4790K is newer

Intel Core i5 4690K it is then.

Regarding the RAMs, would they do:
Corsair XMS3 (2x, 8GB, DDR3-1600, DIMM) https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/corsair-xms3-2x-8g...

Or should I go 4 x 4GB rather than 2 x 8GB?

If this is for gaming then you do not need 16gb RAM. There isn't a single game out that uses even 8gb. Most games only use around 4-5gb. 8gb RAM is enough to run any game at maximum settings and then some. Go for 2x4gb
