Wondering if my CPU bottlenecks my GPU

So yeah.. the title says it all.

Currently, I have a phenom x4 945 and running on a GTX 660 and 8GB of ram. I made a couple test... and that's the result I got after playing a while on BF4. With 'OpenHardwareMonitor'

CPU was running around 90% usage ( I hit the 100% though. )

For the GPU I don't know what value is the good one so I'm gonna give them all.

GPU Core: 98%
GPU Memory Controller : 46%
GPU Video Engine : 45%
GPU Memory : 74%

Those values are the maximum I got while playing BF4.
So would that mean that my CPU bottlenecks my GPU?

Or am I wrong?

Solution

Maybe try and bring the clock back down and see if it goes back to 35-50fps.
I think those two are about even. What program are you using to monitor your GPU? MSI Afterburner gives you a GPU usage which kinda gives a nice overall usage of the GPU. But your GPU core being at 98%, I think its being maxed out. So if your CPU is around 90% but jumps up to 100 and your GPU is at 98, they are as close as you get.

So I made another tests after seeing your answers. And that's what I got

CPU : always 100% usage

GPU Core: 52%
GPU Memory Controller : 26%
GPU Video Engine : 41%
GPU Memory : 70%

OMG I don't know what to think -.-

Well thats conflicting. If there was a bottleneck it wouldnt be nearly that bad. I would suggest getting a 212 EVO and OCing what life is left in your processor and see where that takes you. For the graphics card now, you can use other programs to check

That's what I just did. I oc'd it to 3,45GHZ and my processor is almost always running at 100% and getting really really shitty fps. Normally I would have 35-50FPS with ultra settings in BF4 and now i'm getting around 10-15 lol.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna check that out. Thank you.
