So everything seems fine except that I have a r9 290 in it and in dxdiag is says Intel HD graphics 4600 , in device manager when i go to display adapters they both pop up r9 200 series and intel HD and both are enabled . Should I disable the intel HD ?

You probably should. If anything to make sure the R9 is detected rather than the Intel

Did you plug your VGA/DVI/HDMI cable in the right connector?

Also download AMD Catalyst center if you didn't

I know it sounds stupid but

1.Make sure you plugged your monitor cable into the r9 290
2.Go into Bios and disable the Intel HD graphics 4600

Make sure your VGA/DVI/HDMI is plugged into the graphics card and not the motherboard.

See this picture, ignore the bad quality paint skills lol

And also make sure you have the correct drivers installed, download from the manufacturers website (Asus, gigabyte, sapphire etc)

Is the HDMI plug plugged into the R9 290 and not the motherboard?

I had hdmi also connected to my monitor and I also got black space over the rectangular screen... What I did is I bought DVI cable and replaced hdmi with it...

PS: DVI is much better than hdmi for gaming (hdmi for watching movies I'd say :)  )

I recommend DVI because a few reasons. One of which is that it isn't prone to underscan/overscan issues so much like HDMI
The cables are really common and cheap

Ok everything seems to be ok now , i fixed everything mentioned above , but another ( hopefully software problem popped up ). So i have 8gigs of ram right ? , in task manager , it says that 50 or 60% is being used , even though i have almost nothing installed and all the tasks displayed in task manager only add up to 1 gig , so thats like 12% of RAM . I have windows 8 and i can store the processes by name , mem usage , cpu usage etc . i hope you know that and nothing takes more than 100mb and when I add the up together I get that 1gig of RAM usage but the total ram usage that the task manager is showing is 60% . Could this be a software releated or hardware releated issue ?
