Hello everyone,

I am looking for a strong GPU for my newest build. Being a hardcore Nvidia fan, i find it hard to like the water cooled R9 - but the numbers are too attractive to ignore.

Higher bit memory, better RAM, better cooling (Push/Pull here i come!) and higher GPU clocks - at the same price tag (around a 1,700$ budget for the GPU).

I had bad experiences with AMD and ever since i'm a hardcore Intel/Nvidia fan.

The build is aimed towards gaming and will have the new x99 MB and 6 core i7 first thing in September.

Which direction would you go? - I'm open to new ideas such as SLI alternatives by the way!

But that Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti is $100 more expensive, not worth it. The one I posted is $600, $1200 if you get two. You can get an R9 295X2 for $1400-1500. The performance is going to be similar between two GTX 780 Tis and one R9 295X2, but the tempratures are going to be better in the later. However the Nvidia one consume less power. You could also get two R9 290Xs for $900 and basically have an R9 295X2 without the watercooling but at a much lower price: http://www.microcenter.com/product/431572/AMD_Radeon_R9...

Hi Menkes,
considering that you are planning for the new chipset, may I suggest one 295x2 if you can get at a good price.
cheaper options would include 290x CF or 780 sli...but that would take 2 PCIe slots.
if you can get the newegg offer with SSD and PSU for free, than even better.
Later, when you feel like going 4k gaming, and with funds available, you can get another 290x or even 295x2 for the ultimate setup quadfire. I am quite sure these card will last another 2-3 generations of upgrade, and then you can put on a full waterblock.

Good luck.

Bad time to be considering a major upgrade with Maxwell only a few weeks away. But what resolution are you using?
