Sapphire Vapor-X on secondary pci slot?

I have my video card on the topmost pci slot on the mobo (Asus Z97-A) like every guide seems to say to do, but it's big (Sapphire Vapor X R9 290) so it reaches right up to a smaller pci slot below it. The thing is that small slot is the only spot where I'd be able to put my wireless adaptor (a TP-Link), because the box-shaped components that line up with the i/o shield prevent me from fitting it on the other small slot above where the video card is.

Will the video card still work optimally if I move it to a lower slot, in order to put the adapter in the slot that is otherwise blocked? The manuals for both the card and the mobo do not specify anything about primary or secondary slots.

If you look at that image, the second slot is PCI-e X16(long one), then third a PCI slot (not for graphics), then a PCI-e x1 slot(not for graphics either, so the actually 4th slot on the board(below the SLI sign) is the second Graphics port, you can only use that one and the first one.

What about the bottom two slots? Right now it's occupying the first and second since it's huge. Would occupying the third and fourth also be fine? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I don't know if the power gets worse that much further down the board or what. First build.
