how to burn a dvd

im not sure where to post this but, i need to know how to put a video file on a dvd so it can play on a dvd, can i just put the file on the dvd or do i need to put it on in a specific way?

It needs to be formatted in a special way for a dvd player to read it.
The cheapest way out is just to use "Windows DVD Maker", just follow the steps and voila you'll have a dvd movie. Well maybe not Voila, it does take a bit of time.

There are much better software packages that are much quicker and have more eye candy but they get pricey. I have been using "VSO's Convert X to DVD", it'll utilize multi CPU and GPU.
