Can a DVD drive run my games

Hey, I was wondering if a DVD drive can run my disk pc games such as Bf4, gta iv, and so on... Thanks!

(Also, if you buy the disk version for gta iv can you still mod it?)

Laughs, even with the 'store bought' DVD, it only 'loads the code' then it requires the computer to connect to the service (STEAM, ORIGIN, UPlay, etc.) to actually register, activate, AND update / patch it to play the game. The DVD of old is no longer a factor in games.

in older days when there was no steam clients and origin a dvd was requiered to be able to play.usualy cd1 dvd1 .
but now with steam ,origin ,uplay and the internet playing the game with a dvd has come to rest.
