My PC:

CPU: AMD FX 9590 Black Edition

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Extreme Water Cooler

OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3

Memory: 8GB Corsair 1866mhz Vengeance (2x4GB)

Hard Drives/Sdd: Samsung 250GB 840 Evo SSD + 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s

Optical Drive: 22x DVD+RW DL S-ATA

GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB

Case: In Win GROne

PSU: 750W Corsair CS Modular

Is this a good pc setup? Im open to suggestions and tips. Thanks!!

Short answer: No.

You don't need that CPU until you want to absolutely fry your build with no performance increase over an OCed FX 8 whatsoever.

The CS is a low quality PSU and not worth getting for high ends builds. EVGA SuperNova/ Antec HCG/ SeaSonic M12II/S12II/ XFX Pro series are much better.

Also, I'd rather get RJX over Corsair sticks as they're low profile and cheaper.

Can you tell the approximate budget and specific use (gaming/ rendering or developing/ general use/ multipurpose/ etc) so I can suggest something better?

AMD FX 9 serie isn't worth the money, you'll get much more performance from a Intel I5 4690.

Give your preference between AMD and Intel if there is one. Also give your Budget because there is work to do.

- PSU is too cheap for the build, i would get a Antec HCG or a XFX PSU.

- Do you really need a Corsair H100i ? It's a very good Cooler, but you need to overclock if you buy this one. Will you overclock ?

- Of course, if you plan on another CPU, then another motherboard will be to consider.

Tell us from where you are so we con check for good pricing and tell us your budget !

If you are going to spend that much for a CPU and motherboard then you should look at an intel cpu and motherboard IMO, or just get an AMD FX 8130 and overclock it. It would be the same anyway as the Fx-9590 once it's overclocked. They all hit about the same maximum frequency as well.

Okay, thanks for the swift replies!!

Firstly, this computer will be primarily for gaming but also surfing the web and some media school work (as I am in school still).

Secondary, I have never gone with AMD and just wanted to try an 8-core cpu @ 4.7Ghz (turbo 5Ghz).

This pc was around £1300 from Dino PC. I went on there just cause they should be all compatible and stuff. Im a bit of a rookie with all this so any advice is welcome! I'm considering buying from a company a customized build or just buy the components and build myself, just a bit conscious about the shipping costs.

The types of games I would play are DayZ, Arma 2-3 and stuff like that. I just want a nice looking decent pc. My budget is around £1200-1300.

Ohh and with the H100i I thought the CPU would get very hot!

So if I understand, you will not be overclocking. with your price budget, intel is your beest choice.

I like it, thanks mate! And its £700!! Thanks man! Just being picky here. I was looking at a clear side panelled case with good ventilation and was going to put some aftermarket fans on it. Can I adjust the fan speeds? And no CPU cooler? What RAM would you suggest also?

You don't need anything more than FX 8 or i5 haswell refresh for gaming. FX 9 is not at all recommendable. It runs hot and while its an octa core, but has less FPU, only 4 modules, more power sharing and less performance than any FX 8 or i5 OCed in terms of gaming. Its just like 8 cores getting resources for 4.

Do not go with pre built PCs, atleast custom build yours from a good company or the best is to make it yourself. Shipping costs won't really matter considering your budget and the fact that it'll be much more powerful than any pre built.

Your games are not really the most demanding, but with your budget, you'll be able to play the most demanding ones comfortably on ultra (like BF4, Watch Dogs, FC3, Crysis 3, etc).

Lol no no need for liquid coolers until you engage in really serious OCing (or we can say enthusiast level).

So everything compatible and can fit in it? Just want to check as my trust is in you. Also, what is the life expectancy for this pc? Cause my other pc is alive and its 7 years old.

I don't know for sure which build are you talking about. My build will give atleast 4 years of Ultra gaming.

Trust me its a rookie's job. Easy as cake. Everything will come with every single instruction to how to go about installing them. Also, you may just see some PC building tutorials like 'How to build a Computer' series by Newegg TV on youtube. You'll enjoy assembling it, like a big lego castle ;)
