To change from Intel to AMD (Or even to get a newer model Intel) you would have to change out the motherboard.

HD6670 is a fairly low end video card, especially the DDR3 version. Your Core 2 Duo is a fairly good match with it. You wouldn't see a an enormous improvement in games by upgrading your CPU, excepting for CPU bound games like real time strategies.

FX6300 doesn't tend to outperform 4th gen i3 and i5 processors in games. Only applications that can take advantage of all 6 of the FX6300 cores will it perform better then an Intel. For the price the FX6300 is a good processor.

Wait for the month of September, chances are there that the prices of FX processors will drop.

The FX-6300 might even cost around 6k if the Indian retailers do their job.

I would advise you to save the money and spend it more on a solid 990fx AMD motherboard which will strengthen your processor and even give you the chance to overclock and/or upgrade in the future.

I would also ask you to invest in a better gfx card and since you have already brought it, those are the suggestions I could give you at this time :)

I believe the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 is not at all suited for octo-core processors like FX 8320, none of the 970 chipset based mobo is, there is no VRM heat sink to let out all that heat.

It will actually run better with FX-6300 since that's a 95Watt processor :D

Saswata,

You get the FX-6300. The Gigabyte motherboard is useless because AMD processors use different socket, you best budget motherboard buy would be Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ or Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+.

AM3+ is the socket the FX processors use.

Actually no, the LX V2 model is available and is below 4K which is a crappy thing. LX PLUS is a good motherboard on budget.

Newer generation i5 will always be faster and you will still need to change your motherboard since it's LGA 775 and i5 uses LGA 1150 socket.
