Anyone have any idea whats the cause of this weird noise? Is it damaging my CPU?
Its happens mostly when I'm downloading.

Edit: Specs; MOBO = ASUS Z97-A, CPU = i7 4770K.

Edit: After further inspection, I found out that the noise is not coming from the CPU :pt1cable: but rather from the wireless network adapter. I'm using the ASUS Wireless-AC1900 PCI-E Adapter

I am relived its not the CPU but the noise is still annoying :pfff:

Sounds to me like something stuck in the fan blades, perhaps dust?

Give it a blast of compressed air and see if it still makes the noise.
Failing that, take the whole thing off, clean off the TIM from both the heatsink and CPU and remount with some fresh stuff.

I would imagine the sound happens while you're downloading because the fan is working harder under slight load.

'Course, it could always be unrelated to the 'sink entirely and be something like coil whine from something nearby.
