hi, Im having trouble playing my games on my new pc build. All of my components were brand new besides my graphics card but i bought it from a reputable pc site so im asuming it works fine. My components are Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor, ASRock H87M Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard, G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory,Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive, Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card, Corsair VS 650W ATX Power Supply.Iv installed my drivers for my motherboard and my graphics card. The pc itself seems to work fine but none of my games seem to play besides bioshock 1 which only played for around an hour before it froze but still seems to work my other games bioshock 2 bioshock infinite and metro last light play the intros but soon freeze. I(m new to this whole pc gaming thing so any advice is appreciated

Like what someone else said. If you can. Try either your card in another machine. Or another card in yours. You'll have to uninstall the drivers to yours first. Unless theirs is exactly the same. It could also be the driver version you're using. Try and stay clear of beta drivers. Not unless you're feeling game. They're typically a little buggy. At worst it could be a one in a million dodgy card that somehow passed testing. Or was over stressed by the previous owners if its second hand.

well the game will run initially but then will freeze and stop responding, sometimes it will say my direct x has crashed but most of the time it doesnt. I will try to get my application logs if it will help.

How do i check my application logs on windows 7? Iv tried re installing and updating my drivers and have been searching up solutions on the internet for a few hours but none have seemed to help. Im assuming that if anything is wrong with the pc it will be with the graphics card but it shows up on dxdiag so im thinking it works fine.

Do you have friend that will allow you to test the Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X on his/her system.

It would be difficult to determine if you are experiencing a software or hardware issue. Your graphics card is a prime suspect since it is a used card. That does not mean it is the cause of your problems they only way is to test it on a different system.

Brand new components can also be the cause as well. For example, after troubleshooting a PC build for a friend with all new components, I determined that the motherboard was faulty and recommended my friend return it for a replacment. The replacement came and his PC worked fine after that.

Well Iv just bought a brand new 280x and it should arrive tomorrow. If this new one doesnt work then atleast we know its not the graphics card. But in-case it doesn't work what are some other trouble shooting options
