I am on a budget gaming system and the best SSD I can afford (a crucial m500) is 240 gigs. I don't think this'll suit me very well. I can get a Seagate 1TB Desktop SSHD SATA Hybrid Hard Drive 6GB/s 64MB with 8gb SSD chache cheaper (plus much more space). So I was wondering if the difference in speed between the two disc types mattered much

What you can do is buy a 120gb SSD Crucial M500 or Samsung 840 Evo which are going cheaper right now. And then buy a 1TB Western Digital Blue for storage space.
The SSD is the best option for a fast boot up, and the hard drive is needed for the storage. Your SSD doesn't have to be huge like a 240gb, a 120gb is suitable.

Ok. But I heard SSDs are best for storing games. Would there be much difference in speed if I installed the games to the SSHD?

Also would there be a speed difference between installing OS on an SSHD and an SSD?

The only thing a SSD will do for gaming is make it load faster, in no way will it help with FPS.

I run a
120gb SSD for my OS and any programs I need
80GB SSD for most common games I play The elder scrolls online & SimCity
750GB for older games/not played much
750GB for storage
