This may have been asked before, but does anyone have any tips on packing a computer to ship across country (east coast to west coast, to be specific)? I have a medium sized case (Fractal Define R4) and a GTX 770, so it's a fairly bulky setup. I've taken out the removable hard drive cage for the build, but will probably put it back in for shipping purposes. I've heard some people advise to fill the case with those plastic airbags, I've heard some say to take out the GPU and out it in a separate box, and I've heard some say to disassemble completely and ship it like that. What do you suppose is the best way to do this?

Solution
Don't worry about orientation while shipping. Everything is screwed in...

USPS is who I typically use.

Masking take and a sharpie will work just fine. The important part is just to label them...

That's what I was thinking. I take out all my hard drives and carry them in my luggage. That way, even if something is damaged in shipping and needs to be replaced via the insurance, I still have my data. Do you have a preferred company? I've used Fedex in the past, and I've been pretty happy with their service, though I've heard that they're a bit more expensive than UPS.

EDIT: Also, I suppose it's best to have the motherboard facing up, right? The box for my case has convenient handles on the side, but it puts the computer standing up, which increases the chances of the GPU or some other component falling out...
One more small question: What's a good way of labeling my hard drives so I don't confuse them? My HDD will be obvious, but my two SSDs are exactly the same. Will masking tape and sharpie suffice?
