Processor Temp - 66 C (No overclocking)

Under full load, my i5 reaches 66 C (Stressed by BurnInTest). I have learned somewhere in this forum that going beyond 63 will make the processor to throttle. Is it true or my cpu fine with 66?

Thanks for the info, Mark. And at the last statement - did you mean that the temp does not go beyond 60 while handling graphic intense task(s)?

Thanks for your humble info, Ed. But as mark quoted, I reckon there will be a change in 70 based on the version.

Burn in puts a continuous 100% load on the cpu. Even hard core gaming does not stress the cpu at 100% continuously. As a test, download unigine and run a test cycle at the highest quality you can. Monitor temps with hardware monitor, and when the unigine test is done, lock at the hi/low temps as recorded by hardwaremonitor.

I'm going to try it out now, Mark.

I tested it now and the temps are fine but I found a hitch on graphics. I saw some sort of box shaped flickering at the left end of testing screen. It didn't stop flickering at all. It was present throughout the test scenario. This kind of graphics issue happens to me in watch dogs. For my graphics card (R9 270x) I was using 14.7. But right now, I've got a stable version 14.4. Anyway, why does the graphic issue pop up during the test?

Never seen that on mine, and I couldn't replicate it just now. If this is a new card and you previously had an Nvidia, did you completely remove the nvidia drivers and clean up the registry?

Always use the stable version of the drivers - betas tend to cause issues.

I recommend the betas for AMD gpus over the stable ones in some cases just there are better optimizations and I haven't really run into problems with them (maybe I'm just lucky or don't notice them?). Of course, do go through markwp's suggestions though. If you have lingering parts from the nVidia drivers it could cause some issues. It's possible that it could be some other external factor like the monitor itself or the cable, but I'm not really sure how to test the monitor itself.

Well, I "COMPLETELY REMOVED" the drivers and made a fresh install. The problems are gone. It seems like improper installation led me to this graphic artifact. The test ran successfully and temp stayed around 56-59.

Thanks for your info :)
