one of the people in my department left my computer on this past weekend (heat index outside 108.. probably 115 inside the closed up factory) and then turned off the fans.. when I got to work this morning "A DISK READ ERROR HAS OCCURRED. PRESS ctrl + alt + del to restart" was on my screen.. I am told this means that the hard drive is fried.. Is there any POSSIBLE way to fix this?

Solution
The only acceptable fix is to replace the drive. It is possible to get the data off in some cases but this can involve various degrees of cost depending on what is required. I recommend buying two drives and putting them in RAID 1 (Mirror). If your motherboard does not support RAID a basic RAID card will do the trick.
