What to upgrade next??

Hello, first time posting here and I was wondering if I could get some advice on what to upgrade next on my rig? My graphics card I only recently upgraded so I'm leaning more towards a new processor as it's the same one I started with ~5 years ago. In recent months my rig has been having real trouble opening programs not long after startup with something as simple as VLC etc sitting in the process queue for 10-15 mins before the program actually appears :S Something somewhere seems to be causing quite a bottleneck.

However, when it comes to something as major as a processor change I'm quite a noob and don't really know how good my current one is and the limitations imposed on a new one by the rest of my setup.

Any wise words? Thanks!

My current setup:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
3TB Media HDD etc
1TB HDD (where the OS is)

I would buy a new processor and perhaps a solid-state drive?

A new SSD with a fresh install would see some new life.

A new processor and motherboard (your budget depends on which) An SSD to store the OS and a few programs would also be a good investment.

SSD period, too many processors thrown to the wind. If it runs DDR3 and has at least a Gen 2 PCIE slot on the motherboard your solid. My guess is your hard drives need to be backed up, wiped, and a fresh Windows install on a 120GB ssd and you will be running like a champ again.
