That cpu comes with a cooler you can use. If you want to use the aftermarket one you have, you need to confirm it fits AM3+ socket. I don't think it will since I don't think AM3+ was out in 2007.

There will be a fan that comes with the CPU you are buying, however it is quite common to buy an aftermarket one (depending on what CPU it is) in order to keep things quiet / cooler.

In 2007, Socket AM2/AM2+ was around, and the 'latch' HSF was standard -- even the old s939 solid copper-base/heatpipes will work just dandy on AM3/AM3+.
You can get the FX-4300 for another $5 -- that would be preferable over your current choice.

i saw a 6 core for another 3 bucks. should i just go with that?
