Just looking to see whether the Corsair VS650 would be enough to power this:
CPU: i5 2400 3.1ghz
RAM: 16gb
GPU: sapphire R9 280x toxic edition (going to buy)
MOBO: Asus P8Z68-V LX
Case: corsair carbide spec- 01
And a couple if extra fans

More about : corsair vs650 good build

It would be, however, I recommend the GS, RM, or AX lines for Corsair PSUs

Are you looking at buying the VS650? Or do you already own it?

If you already have it, and you are not overclocking, then you should be ok with that PSU. It's not the best on the market but it's fine for basic use. It just has come cheaper capacitors in its construction. It's not recommended for systems that will be overclocked though.

If you are looking at buying it, don't. There are better units for the same price.

What about the fsp aurum 650w or antec hcg 620w either of them better?

The HCG Antec is great quality. Recommended. It's made by Seasonic, one of the better PSU makers in the industry. As for the FSP, exactly which model is it? There are a number of models in the Aurum lineup.

It's the fsp aurum S Gold 80+

I'd stick with the Antec in this case. I am unable to find any major PSU testing sites that have reviewed that particular FSP unit. FSP does have some great PSUs, but they also have some mediocre.

Alright I'll go with the Antec then was just worried it might not be big enough since sapphire recommends 750w psu and it's only 620

Its always a good rule of thumb to add 100-200W more than you need just for head room for upgrades or OC'ing

Truth? Personally I'd go for a 750W. It will run just fine on 620W but I like to have a lot of extra headroom. I am using a 750W for my gtx770 which is way overkill and most people on the forum will say that's just plain too much. And they are right.

It'll depend on your budget really. If you want to go to 750W and you are in the USA, this is a good deal for the HCG750M

Well I don't really intend on over clocking so I'll probably just go with the 620 if it'll still run just done on that

If you upgrade then you will need to upgrade PSUs as well if you go with the 620W. I also get more just incase. I'm running a 1200W for a much bigger system though

Would the fsp raider be a descent choice as a 750w psu then?

I don't recommend the raider series from FSP. Lower end PSUs.

What website are you shopping from and what is your budget? I'd like to take a look and see what I can find.

If you can go $19 over budget, this one is excellent
