will downloadable content from steam still work if base software came from disc

I bought Euro Truck Simulator 2 download from the GSP Games website and have the Go East add-on on disc will downloadable content such as the high power content pack from steam work on the game or will I need to buy and download the game in steam

No, unfortunately Steam DLC is only compatible with the Steam version of the game (as far as I know). The Steam client will inform you that you do not have the base game when you try to purchase the DLC.

Ok. I bought Skyrim as a cd. And then later added Dragonborn dlc. I think unless the game is ported to steam. And it's recognised in your system by steam. You might have to make another purchase.
