Wondering if Heatsink will overlap with memory or even fit

Hi, everyone.

I have a Z87 Sabertooth motherboard along with Corsair CMD32GX3M4A2400C10 memory.

but i'm not sure if its going to interfere with the memory.

Any advice?

If you use low profile memory, you should escape any interference. Unfortunately, the dominators are not low profile.

While w/ DDR2, those big heat sinks had an actual function, with DDR3-ther function is just to "look cool".

Check sites like Noctua that have compatibility charts and then compare your chosen cooler's dimensions to said charts

someone recommended the scythe Grand Kama Cross 2 to me the other day, no interferance with high profile memory and it cools your memory aswell.

That's something I didn't know JackNaylorPE. Tsueo6 I will look into it. What type of CPU cooler would you guys suggest for me? I'm willing to use $60 max

Ya just miss one of the best .... $65 will usually get you the Phanteks PH-TC14-PE ..... well usually they are all $75 but one color is usually on sale for $65 ..... ya lucky, 2 on sale this week

If the DH14 fits, the Phanteks shud fit .... I have had interferences issues in which case I just moved the fans from center and right positions to center and left positions ... make sure ya have both blow to rear of case.

I already have the Corsair CMD32GX3M4A2400C10 memory so the DH14 will take up the first 1-2 memory slots. I have 4 memory sticks each 8GB each.

The NH-D14 is a big cooler that extends over the first RAM slots on most mainboards. The cooler offers sufficient clearance for all standard size memory modules, but you won’t be able to use memory modules higher than 44mm. Corsair Dominator DDR3 modules can be used if the top heatspreader is removed as shown here.

what about a liquid cooling system then?
doesnt take much space and works wonders

I'm not going for water cooling systems as they tend to leak. I'm all about that airflow.

I'm thinking about this one: Noctua NH-U12S. Doesn't seem like to will overlap with my memory.

There's like 150 images on that page , dunno which one ya want em to look at.... see the picture 2 posts up..... according to noctua, appears it will fit fine ... also this but yours are a new style and I can't see what kinda screws hold them on.....looks like star drive.

If you want to go past just removing the top so it fits and want to remove the whole heat sink to paint or otherwise modify the Heat Sinks ...

With Mushkin RAM, it's quick and easy..... 2 screws and the whole thing comes off ...... I check to see if they change chip suppliers
