Typically it is installed so airflow is going from the front to the back exhaust.

I haven't used one for a while, but if I remember right, you can slide the fan up a little higher on the cooler to help clear the ram. If your ram is that high profile, then you'll have no choice. The only negative will depend on how close the hyper 212 intake is to your GPU. It could be sucking hot air off the GPU instead of getting cooler air from the front of the case.

Simply set the fan a bit higher and front to back, no ill effects on the cooling I have Tridents (with fin on) under a EVO and run the 3570K at 4.7, have Ripjaws X under another on my SB with the 2500K running at 4.8 - simply pop the fan brackets off the fins and set it where you want it (as close to upper DRAM heat sink as possible)
