Yes that's pretty much it, however 1Gb GPU's are becoming quite obsolete while 2Gb is the standard nowadays, and high end GPU's having 3,4,6 and even 12Gb of VRAM.

hahaha what is the point in 12GB VRAM? lol

Is that it?

"Video cards with more VRAM are useful when displaying at a higher resolution"

There is nofin else but displaying at a higher resolution?.

Higher resolution and multiple monitors. And yes 12Gb GPU's are very useful when it comes to displaying Triple 4K monitors or doing heavy 3D rendering work. In fact, even that crazy of a GPU can be maxed out, but I doubt it would apply to anything you would do. Also, like the guy above said, you simply cannot judge a GPU on the amount of RAM it has. For example, a GTX 750Ti and a GTX 770 both have 2Gb of VRAM, however they don't perform nearly the same.

this is useless and untrue. I've had "lack of vram" issues at 1600 res on more than one occasion.

OP......... what card/cards do you have or are thinking of buying? what are you playing?

Higher res textures and added AA. If you play bethesda/gta games the amount of vram comes in very handy when you start adding texture mods and enbs.

You need to be rich to get a 12GB graphic card lol

So i should get the 2GB one then?.

Im getting the Sapphire R7 265 Dual-X 2GB for my AMD FX 4130 and my CPU is overclocked aswell.
I have 8GB 1333 with 1tb harddrive, 500w

My graphic card sucks so hard, I had to overclock it to get good FPS.

This graphic card i said is perfect for the AMD FX 4130, I got recommended it by friends and people on this forum, Someone said it would go perfect with my CPU.

Iv researched the graphic card and my CPU and people have said its a perfect match, I found the
SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R7 265 2GB GDDR5 for only £96.22 - $159.67

Yeah the 265 is decent, I was confused as to what you were asking. I thought there were alternate models of the 265 that had either 1gb or 4gb of vram. (They do that with most cards)

Ohh i was thinking you was trying to say the SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R7 265 2GB GDDR5 was not a perfect match for my AMD FX 4130 :) Its like a love match lol.

At least its better then my £30 graphic card, Ohh not even that, Say £25 xD

Yes im ashamed to even tell anyone, It lets down my whole system, When i get the SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R7 265 2GB GDDR5 ill have my dream Gaming PC :), There is no need to spend over a grand, You only need £400.

Untrue? So more vram won't help with higher resolutions or multiple monitors to push more pixels? Hmm I never knew that after all my years of building computers...

And of course you can have a lack of vram at 1600 if you only have a 256mb GPU or even a 2Gb GPU but running a game with very high texture maps. Did I say "you will never miss ram at 1600 with a 2Gb GPU"? No, no I didn't. what I said was "Video cards with more VRAM are useful", not "will run every game super perfectly"
