Is my GPU broken or what?

Before I proceed to warranty replacement and such, I just want to make sure that my GPU is fried.
Two days ago, while browsing the web, a sudden POP noise came from my computer followed by a force PC reboot then a burning smell.
After, my monitor wouldn't receive any signal and was just pitch black.
The fans were still spinning on my GPU so I was confused on whether the GPU was actually broken or not.
I currently removed the GPU and connected the monitor to my motherboard instead and this seems fine.
So ultimately, was the pop noise and smell from my GPU?
I can't see any broken or burnt area from the exterior of the GPU.
Any ideas? :??:

the pop sounds like a capacitor blowing.they look like cans on the printed circuit board.one or more should either have a domed top rather than the normal flat and or be leaking.it could even be the power supply has blown on the rail that supplies the gpu.does the power supply smell burnt?
