Hi,
i own a 770gtx 2gb and i want to know if my card will support cuda 6 unified memory. If not, will my 2gb version be enough for next gen games at 1080p?

I'm always connected to two separate monitors that run on 1080p but one of them is always off. Can thia cause any performance issues?

Thanks in advance.

If you look up to the GPU roadmap release earlier by nVIDIA, it was clear that their Maxwell architecture would have support for UVM (Unified Virtual Memory) whereas it was said to be supported on Kepler architecture - no clue to that end. Kepler architecture has Dynamic Parallelism not UVM.

From above it seems like GTX 700 series may not support unified memory under cuda 6.

Leaving this unified memory apart, your 2GB GTX 770 would run future games at 1080 res for sure.

Using one monitor at a time will not cause any performance issue.

But the consoles have unified memory that helps with texture detail indemanding games like watch dogs. Thats why i asked if my card will support cuda 6 unified memory - a response to amd's mantle according to an article i read.

Ok thanks, but what about textures? Do you think I'll be able to max it on 1080p? I guess watch dogs is not a good example but it requires 3gb min for ultra textures. Titanfall also needs 3gb vramn for "insane" textures although i didnt notice a big difference.

It says here it will be supported from kepler onwards http://devblogs.nvidia.com/parallelforall/unified-memory-in-cuda-6/

Does that mean my card will support it and i wont have to upgrade just for vram?

Unified memory is supported on Kepler GK-110. As GTX 770 is based on GK104, it may not support unified memory. Read here for more:

Also, this is chat extract between nVIDIA rep and myself over the subject matter:

Karthik: Hi, my name is Karthik. How may I help you?
Nauman Siddique: Hey there. I've a question regarding cuda 6. Is unified memory supported
on kepler architecture?
Nauman Siddique: If yes then exactly which version of kepler supports unified memory
Karthik: Hello Nauman, let me check this information for you.
Nauman Siddique: oki thanks
Karthik: Yes, it seems like the Kepler architecture supports unified memory
Karthik: http://www.nvidia.com/content/PDF/kepler/NVIDIA-Kepler-GK110-Architecture-
Whitepaper.pdf
Nauman Siddique: so that would mean only gk110 supports it not older versions?
Karthik: Kepler GK110
Nauman Siddique: and if that is so GTX 770- will not support it either
Karthik: http://devblogs.nvidia.com/parallelforall/unified-memory-in-cuda-6/
Karthik: The list of GPUs is not listed here, however it just states the GK110 supports it
Nauman Siddique: oki thanks
