Should I get a motherboard to SLI and look out for the future? Which one should I get one card or SLI?

Alright so I don't know if I want to SLI for the future. The motherboard I want is the $130 AsRock Fatl1ty Killer Z97. I want to get a gtx 770 and and run with that until I think I should upgrade to something better. I don't know if I should change the motherboard to support SLI and get a 750 or 760 card and then SLI in the future and hope for better performance? I heard some people don't or haven't benefited from it or have gotten a 10% boost or so. What are your guys experiences with SLI? For now I am leaning toward getting one single card what do you guys think? I am also waiting for the 880 to come out hoping for a price drop in cards.

no, 750 series cannot configure in SLI mode..

yes, 2x760 offer same performance with 780..

but no, always stick with the single stronger graphic card, rather than 2x weaker one..
770 can handle almost game available right now with max setting..you don't need power of SLI right now.

in the future, when your machine lack of graphic muscle, then add one more 770 (at the time, you'll get 770 class with cheaper price). It'll be more-more faster than 2x760, and give you same performance with future strong single cards..

Thanks for the advice but what motherboard would you recommend around the same price range? Any that are Z97? I want to go with the 770 now but to also get a motherboard that can SLI so I can get another 770 later in the future but wouldn't know which motherboard to get now that can SLI.

Any Z97 mobo support multicards configuration (SLI and CF)..

For AsRock Fatl1ty Killer Z97, it's Supports AMD 3-Way CrossFireX™ and NVIDIA® Quad SLI™ ..

edit:
well, i means Z97x series..not Z97..:D

It's better to run 1 higher card then 2 lower cards.

I have the z97 asrock fatal1ty killer board.

It can only do crossfire (amd cards) no sli, and only at 4x.

You'd need the z97x fatal1ty board for sli and better crossfire.

Oh and I love my asrock board, I have a 290x, no plan to ever crossfire, that's why I stuck with the z97 not z97x

4 years ago I had the same idea as you, got a gtx 470 probably sli it in future, never happened, it died after 4 years, still running games well, I'd say get the best card you can afford now, by the time it can't keep up, there will be way better options then buying another and putting it in sli

How do the r9 card run? I keep seeing some good/negative reviews on them and don't want to risk it really to have it messing up on me constantly or whatnot. I want to go with Nvidia and yes I know there is also a chance the card could be messed up there too. I generally see the r9 cards can outperform their nvidia counterparts but I also see a risk in them too. Any way how has your experience been or can you tell me a card with good reviews that can outperform the gtx 770? Around same price?

Before my 290x I had a gtx 470 so it was a big jump.

Before I upgraded my mobo and CPU, I ran an i5 760 and battlefield 4 ran on ultra at 75 fps at 1900x1200.

Now I'm on a 4690k, and I couldn't be happier
