I just replaced my old ram with some corsair vengeance 16gig (2x4) ram kit. Im just wondering if I have to do anything after installing. I heard that even though some rams say they run at 1600mhz, it shows that its only running at 1333mhz. My computer reads the 16gigs, just wondering if its running at the speed it was meant to run.

Solution
Yes some will run at 1333MHz depending if your motherboard supports that frequency.

So let's say that a motherboard supports only up to 1600MHz and I so happen to buy a 1800MHz RAM then the newly bought RAM speed will be clocked down to the speed of 1600MHz.

If at 1333 you are sitting at the mobos default, to get the full 1600 simply go into BIOS and enable XMP and use profile 1, the system will set the sticks up for you.....and sadly NO, if the mobo only supports up to 1600 and you get faster, YOU will still have to set it to 1600 it won't do so automatically if the default is lower, and the likelyhood of running 1600 sticks at 2933 is basically nil unless you want to run LN and are very good w/ DRAM
