So I have a 270X with stock clock at 1080Mhz and memory at 1400Mhz.

I've never really overclocked a GPU and I've just been playing around in Afterburner.

I ran a burn-in benchmark test at 1920x1080 for 15 mins using FurMark and the GPU temp peaked at 86c and around 46fps.

Without messing with voltages etc, how far can I push this card in Afterburner?
And what exactly does the power limit option do? By default it is on 0 but can be pushed to +20.

Anybody with the same or similar card have any suggestions?

Thanks

edit: additional specs if needed
i5-4690
8GB RAM
Win8.1x64
600W modular PSU

There's no way to really tell how far you can push it without adjusting power limit. The power limit is raising the power limit, the maximum power draw that you can get I believe. Different cards have different overclocking limits. Your card will most likely be different than someone elses. Only way is to do some increments for yourself to see how far you can push it without changing the power limit.

Thanks Calnin

Is the fact that it runs at 86c at full load a concern? I've looked at other websites where they've tested this card and they were getting under 70c on a stress test.

86c seems quite high to me?

Is this a 1 fan or multifan card?

It does seem quite a bit warm for a card on those settings if you have multiple fans (2 or 3).

Up the fan speed to ~60% or so and see how the temperatures are.

Manually put the fan speed to 60% and see if it keeps the temps under 70C.

Furmark is rather extreme so temperatures are worst case scenario.
Use Valley or Heaven and games to test your gpu if you are not overvolting.
You should be able to push 1120Mhz on the clock speed since it is the boost clock for OC mode. You can probably go higher but you have to test your card.
With my MSI R9 270, I left it at 1120 and 1400 and i think the fps for my games are decent enough.
