What I wanted to say is that XEON is a server procesor, mainly! i3,i5,i7 are desktop processors
Even tho; I had server at my job workstation running with xeon that was causing a lot of problems, was replaced with i7 and i7 was actually running faster than the xeon...

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ivy-bridge-ep-xeon-e5-2697-v2-benchmarks,3585-9.html

according to these benchmarks Xeon E5-2697 V2 is just slightly better than 4960x in some points, in others 4960x is MUCH better
check also results for adobe cs6, synthetics etc... worth 1000$ more? one big NO

and for gaming... Xeon E5-2697 V2 not even close to 4960x with single core performance

PS: all of you from what I can see were posting build for gaming and such, not for...

CPUBoss... that's funny. As for video rendering, bring it... Why do you think Apple builds the Mac Pro workstation with 2 Xeon processors?

No you are wrong it can be used and is actually great for rendering with its 12 cores. And he didn't mentioned a gaming PC so you can put the most expensive processor and not be suitable for gaming. ;)

ALSO xeon processor is limited to 1866mhz ram because is not suitable for overclocking... and i7 4960x ? hehehe ;)
