Yes, that OEM drive will require software in order to play back Blu-Ray discs. As suggested, VLC should be able to play Blu-Ray discs well enough, but check your package from Newegg when it arrives. Though the description says OEM, Newegg *may* include the software you need (as they did with me a couple years back).
That is the hardware required, yes. You have to have a Bluray drive in order to play Bluray movies. After that, pretty much any software will run the movie. I personally like VLC for watching movies.
