hi, i have windows 8.1 32 bit installed and now i want to install windows 64 bit version :) and I've read the only way to install that is through clean install/custom install so when installing the 64 bit version in "C" would it format/delete the other partition "D" where my personal files are saved?:??:

Solution
Yes, a clean install is required. As far as your personal files, it is by far better to have those elsewhere and offline during the install.
One wrong checkbox selected, and poof, your D partition is also gone.

"Backup files" shouldn't be a bad thing - this should be a common activity anyway. It's good practice, good discipline.

"Wipe everything out and do clean install" should be a good thing. Fresh start. Reload the software that's useful, out with the garbage. Some programs will have 64-bit versions, too.
