Hi all,

I am after some advice please.

I have an EVGA GTX570 and it has been crashing a lot. This mainly consists of crashing to coloured screens, freezing the PC totally or giving DirectX errors. It worked without any problems until about 6-8 months ago. I have reloaded the drivers, carried out a driver sweep and reloaded, cleaned the PC to make sure its dust free, and I have now re-built it from scratch.
I have tested on CIV 5 and it crashes every time, Farcry 3 seems to be ok so far, Deadspace crashes every time, BF4 crashes randomly with DirectX errors that I have never been able to solve.

My PC Spec is: -
Intel core i7-2600k @3.4 Ghz
8 GB Corsair
Corsair TX850 PSU
Cooler Master storm case (currently with sides off)

Would I just be better off biting the bullet and upgrading to a new GTX770 (Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 770 OC 2GB Fan) or is there something more that is wrong with my PC?

Thanks in advance

Solution
If just 1080p then 2GB should be fine, only game that exceeds 2GB on higher res than 1080p on those games is BF4.

Btw add me on origin if you want :p "7maniAlkhalaf"

I've heard a lot of vrms and vrams failure in the 570s and 580s, which causes all your errors. I myself am a victim. I'd say yes, get a 770 or wait for the new 8xx series as it's coming soon. No need to upgrade rest of your system though, it can still give you a year or two :). Loving my 2 year old 2600k !

Given that my patience is all but exhausted, I will probably end up parting with my hard earned cash and getting the 770, is there really much difference between the 2 and 4 gb versions?

Thanks

4GB is used for some games that uses mods or if you plan to game on resolutions higher than 1080p. Although these days games do exceed 2GB. So it all depends on the games you play. So what do you play ?

Hi, Thanks for the info. I play like quite a variety of games when my card is being stable, Civ5, BF4, Farcry 3, Football Manager, Call of Duty, Crysis, Batman. I have never added any mods though.
So do you think I would be better off going with a 2 or 4gb? I just want to be able to play without the PC crashing or freezing or getting DirectX errors!

Thanks
