Yes, you absolutely can. I've been using 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro on my PC for nearly a year now with no problems. It runs and games flawlessly. The only hitch I've encountered was while installing it. For some reason installing it from USB doesn't work too well, so try to put it on a DVD instead.

If you don't already know how, make sure you read up on making bootable installation disks before you get started.
