I have just started a new build which has an AMD A8 6600K APU with the fan it comes with, an msi military class 4 motherboard, 2 sticks of dual channel (which are what the motherboard used) ADATA 4gb DDR3 1333 ram. I also have the optical drive and HDD mounted properly and connected with the SATA cords. I can't get it to go into POST though. I am assuming it is because I do not have a video card yet but since it uses an APU it should work. Can anybody help?

what is the exact motherboard you have? The only one that I could find from MSI that is military class 4 is made for intel.

Also AMD A8 660ok APU has a built in gpu on it so you wont need a standalone card to get video.

Please fill out full system specs

I have followed these steps several times and everything seems like it should be working. All the parts are powering on but the monitor just goes through the startup phase then goes to a blank screen without posting.

try using another monitor. or perhaps you may have to install a separate GPU.

I have also tried plugging it into the motherboard when the GPU is not installed. It still didn't work. Also I am using a vga aka a d-sub cable as the monitor calls it.
