Hey,
I'm new to Toms Hardware... As I need an instant response..
2 Days ago I purchased a Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-DS3H Motherboard from Amazon.co.uk
A week or so ago I purchased a Corsair VS350 from my local Pc World.
I got my motherboard today and installed the PSU, CPU, CPU Heatsink, Front panel etc.
I turn it on, It boots up fine, So I plugin my VGA cable and enter bios. Then for some reason it randomly shuts down and does not turn back on....
So I felt the motherboard etc. And it was decently hot. - 5 Hours later the PC is still not turning on I'm not exactly the smartest guy in the house with PC's and I don't know whats wrong.

doesn't sound like a grounding issue as it booted up after he put everything together. I might think the CPU cooler wasn't seated properly and it auto shutdown from the heat. However that doesn't explain why it didn't boot back up when it cooled off.

Did you by chance update the BIOS and if so did it shut down while you were doing the update?

I am sorry to inform you that in all probability your motherboard is damaged beyond your ability to repair. If the computer shut off during a BIOS update, it's very likely that your BIOS has been damaged. in such a case there is really nothing you can do short of calling the manufacturer and getting an RMA for the board. Explain the situation to them and they will ship you a new board. Its actually a fairly common problem.

well that is good to know. you had me worried when you told me it shut off during a BIOS update.
I assume the Motherboard being on fire is figurative. Because if there are actual flames then you have a whole new set of issues :D

If everything works than don't change anything. You should remember to apply a decent amount of thermal compound to the top of your processor to allow the heat to dissipate.
