Hey guys need some advice, I am looking at building a gaming PC and have already purchased a Asus R9 280x TOP 3gb, I want to go AMD bc i have used the 965 BE in the past and worked wonders, this will only be used for gaming and browsing. I was thinking of getting the AMD FX-8320 but if i could save some money and maybe get teh FX6320 wondering if that would affect gaming all that much since im already using a nice GPU, if I can save some money it would help me get the build quicker, from what im seeing nothing is going to be using 8 cores for gaming, also i will be OCing the CPU reguardless of what i get

As far as what level to get that depends on your needs. What kind of IO ports do you need, Front USB 3.0?, Overclock?, ability to do crossfire/sli?, any special needs for pci-e or pci ports? The board I suggested, M5A99X, is a good medium board that does not have all of the super enthusiest bells and whistles but has all of main features you would want today and in the future. The M5A97 board is a good board but does not have front usb 3.0 or crossfire/sli ability which a year down the road you may regret not having as its easier to pay $20-30 more now then $130 latter and have to remove most everything from the...

Do you still have the 965 BE? It's still an excellent CPU (Especially if you're only interested in an AMD setup). I'm sporting the 955 BE currently and with a little bit of overclocking find it to still be very fast.

Check out Tom's CPU monthly guide. At the very back they have a hierarchy chart, you'll discover the 965 is still really high on that list.

If you dont have the 965 anymore then if you want to go AMD you will want to get an FX-8350 cpu. The 8320 is a pretty decent CPU as well, but with a 280x you will be right at the point of becoming a bottleneck.

I suggest the ASUS M5A99X mobo to go with that CPU. You should also get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo cpu cooler as the stock unit is not sufficient when you start to push it hard like that 280x card will.
