I am planning on building a new system when amazon does their black friday deals. I am probly gonna buy 2 R9 290's and a 4k monitor. I was wondering if either the I7 4790k or the Fx 8350 would bottleneck these cards at 4k resolution. (Note I do not want to know which is better, I already know the pros and cons to both cpu's). Thanks for the help!

Check this out, and make your decision. Keep in mind that these benches have only one video card installed, so 2 in crossfire may be held back even more. ;) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/fx-8350-8320-6300-4300_6.html#sect0

EDIT: I missed that you will be running 4k. At that resolution neither "should" bottleneck. Most of the work will be done by your GPUs at that resolution, so the chip won't matter as much at all. The AMD may hold you back in memory heavy games such as codemasters racing games. Intel has more overall memory bandwidth so codemasters games run a fair amount faster. Other than those games I can't really think of any others that could be affected in the same way.

Pick the Intel i7-4790K, is less probable that you get a bottleneck with it.

Games these days are still not well threaded, so they benefit more from 4 strong cores instead of 8 weaker cores.

According to www.cpubenchmark.net, the 4790K is 67% and 26% stronger in single and multi threaded tasks respectively than the 8350.
