Current specs:
System Model: HP Compaq dc7800p Convertible Minitower
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 8GB RAM
1TB Hard Disk

Current graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT (not very good for gaming but the rest of the specs look alright)
Whats the best graphics card i buy that is compatible with my pc up to £120
im not sure on the power supply but i need a card that will run with the same power supply as my current graphics card.

Thanks

I have no idea about pricing in the UK, but a GTX 750 Ti is the best you can get for a pre-built PC with a low wattage power supply. Doesn't need an external power connector and would be a good match for your Q9300.

You can play any game you want with a 750ti, its a great card. Here's Tom's review: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-...

With a 750ti you would be able to play any game at medium settings with 60fps

Yeah that's it. And yes it will fit inside your case and is compatible with your motherboard. It will be tons better than the 8500 GT you are using now.

Without knowing your PSU I have to assume its the OEM PSU that originally came with the computer. Since it runs the 8500GT, its safe to assume it will run a 750ti. So I'll conclude that the 750ti 2gb is the best card you can safely install without upgrading your PSU.

Here is a direct comparison of the 260x and the 750ti: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1044?vs=1130
Also look at the 750ti review I linked previously - it shows the diff in fps with the 260x. Also the 260x uses about 45w more under load according to anandtech. Again, I'm not sure if you'd need to upgrade your PSU for the 260x because we don't know what its max output is, but I think the 750ti is better anyway.

750Ti would beat R7 260x mostly. It is power efficient as it draws power from PCIe lane (which is 75W btw) and it is based on Maxwell architecture. You should stick with this card. It is at par with GTX 650Ti/GTX 660 as well.

The R7 265 beats the 750ti and the R7 260x beats the 750
