Hey guys, just wanted to know what your opinions were on my pc build,

CPU: i7 4770k
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Hero VII
Memory- Corsair Vengance Pro 16gb 2400mhz
Storage: 1 TB Western Digital RED
Video Card: Asus R9 290
Case/Chasis- Sentey Spider 6700
Power Supply- Corsair 850w 80 Plus GOLD
Optical Drive- Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)
Cooler: Corsair H60
Monitors Two random HP IPS Monitors that were on sale
Keyboard- Random Logitech Wireless Keyboard
Mouse: Sentey Revolution Pro
Headset: Steelseries Siberia V2 (USB)

Solution
An I5 is sufficient for gaming.
16GB of RAM is completely useless for gaming and most other tasks, 8GB is more than enough.
Overpriced motherboard.
Do not need more than 600W power supply.
Corsair H60 cooler is junk and overpriced.
Good headset.
For this kind of high cost build, an SSD would make a lot of sense.

Hi, Novauke and thank you for your reply,
I do do some video editing once in a while so I wasn't sure if and i5 was enough, so I just decided to grab an i7,
As my father will also be using this computer for work, I was originally going to go with 8gb, but he insisted with 16gb
I wasn't sure what motherboard to choose. Would you mind informing me of the price range that a motherboard should be and what motherboards you would recommend? Also can you tell me what makes the motherboard overpriced?
I do intend to upgrade the gpu in later years so I got a higher wattage power supply just in case if 600 watts wasn't enough in the future.
What water cooler for the cpu would you recommend if I were to change it later?

Thanks in advance

If you are gonna make alot of video rendering/photo editing, for a lil extra u can get the 4790k.
ONLY if u want for video editing (like big files) you would need the 2400 MHz RAM.
Else, go with 1600 MHz and look for 1.5 V. They need to be over 2133 to work well with Haswell builds.
Corsair H100i woud be a better choice.

Goodluck.

PS: The guy above has a point with the SSD. 120 GB or 240 would be more than enough space for OS + applications, but the speed gained is substantial.

Instead of a siberia have a look at the Kingston Hyper X cloud, It has great reviews and from personal experience I love it!

As Novuake said go i5 and 8Gbs of RAM, It'll save you money which you can put towards a GTX 780 or a 290X.

Sorry, time zones are out.

1. If you video edit. Stick to the I7, its well worth it.

2. 16GB of RAM isn't that expensive and if you arn't paying or sacrificing on any other portion, then I guess 16GB is fine. You SHOULD however try and cut some cost by going for lower MHz RAM, 2133/1866 CAS 10 / 9 RAM would be much cheaper.

3. If you are going that far overkill with the PSU(since no single GPU is likely to ever use that much power), why not get a little MORE wattage for crossfire dual graphics in the future.

4. There are MANY well priced motherboards around 120$ that provide pretty much the same features, Asus ROG motherboards have always been overpriced while bringing very little actual usable functionality to the table, sure there are some nice gimmicks, but 99% of people never use them.
I usually suggest this board : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128714&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

But like I said, there are MANY to choose from.

4. Cooling, right. LIQUID cooling isn't worth it unless you are going for AT LEAST dual radiators. Even then they are mostly louder than their large air counterparts but don't perform much better.

Since you are saving on the motherboard, get this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Unless you do not plan on overclocking? In which case this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
