I recently upgraded my HP Probook 4530s CPU from an i3 2350M to an i7 2670QM and it freezes on the windows logo. It boots and I can get into BIOS but when it tries to load windows after a couple of seconds it freezes up. I tried safe mode and it starts to run but it still stops at a certain point (Can't remember what it tries to load before it freezes again). however when I put in the old CPU it runs just fine, no hicups.
Also I should mention that prior to my purchase of the i7 I contacted HP and they said that the CPU should work.

Everything in it is the same except for the RAM. I upgraded the RAM to G. Skill 8 GB (2x4GB) from the stock 2GB. And that ran fine on the old CPU.

Is there anyway to fix this freezing? Also how do I get the "Advanced" BIOS so I can control more of the CPU then the weird menu BIOS HP has for this laptop?

Yes I have already updated. I did notice however that the HP Support site has many different BIOS Updates.
Here is the link to all the updates (I used HP Notebook System BIOS Update (International) )
http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=5060882&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswEnvOID%253D4059%257CswLang%253D%257Caction%253DlistDriver&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken#BIOS

Also I think I did a big jump on my BIOS updates. The original that I had was F.0A the first one and I went to the latest version F.41
Do you think I need the ones in between?
