I recently upgraded my HP Probook 4530s CPU from an i3 2350M to an i7 2670QM and it freezes on the windows logo. It boots and I can get into BIOS but when it tries to load windows after a couple of seconds it freezes up. I tried safe mode and it starts to run but it still stops at a certain point (Can't remember what it tries to load before it freezes again). however when I put in the old CPU it runs just fine, no hicups.
Also I should mention that prior to my purchase of the i7 I contacted HP and they said that the CPU should work.
Everything in it is the same except for the RAM. I upgraded the RAM to G. Skill 8 GB (2x4GB) from the stock 2GB. And that ran fine on the old CPU.
Is there anyway to fix this freezing? Also how do I get the "Advanced" BIOS so I can control more of the CPU then the weird menu BIOS HP has for this laptop?
